I met Gloria the first time I came to China in 2015. Because my team visited Beijing before we flew to Zhanjiang to work at Grace Village, the leaders of our group were asked to pick Gloria up from the hospital and fly her with us to her new home in Zhanjiang.
Before we got on the plane, I was asked if I'd like to be the one to hold her on the flight. That moment forever changed my life.
I fell in love with her and as I shared the story of this precious girl was with my parents, they caught the love bug. In March of 2016, they made the decision to pursue adopting her.
I have to explain: my family was not financially capable of taking on an adoption. The odds are against us. But time and time again, God has proven himself to be faithful beyond measure.
We have had so much support, and a lot of it has come from the most unexpected people.
When I first met Gloria, I realized how much of a fighter she was. She’d just had heart surgery without any pain medicine. Though sore and hurt, she made it.
That same spirit lives in my parents. They are so determined to get her home and to give her the life she deserves.
Meanwhile, I have moved to China to live with her until the funds are complete raised and the adoption can be processed.
My family has the privilege of being written into her story, and we are honored and excited for the journey ahead.
