It doesn’t take reading between the lines (or hearing between the sentences) to understand that individuals with disabilities are no different from you or me. In fact, this truth is black and white.
Once again, our friend Brittnie has shown us the importance of not judging a book by its cover. After all, it is fiction to believe those with special needs have to miss out on certain activities just because they may look different. While some may believe that what is on the outside is more significant—plot twist—it is who we are on the inside that truly matters most.
Of all the books in the world one could choose to read daily, Brittnie has certainly picked the best of the best. With a dash of action, a smattering of mystery, and a sprinkle of poetry, the Bible is better than any other work you might find at your local bookstore or library. And what more appropriate reason to read it than it was written by the creator of the universe? It represents the ultimate love story between an adoring father and his people all over the world—no matter their mental or physical attributes.
In case anyone tells you otherwise, just remember that our friends with so-called disabilities are authoring stories worthy of being told and penning unique narratives which are entitled to being reread over and over again.
Story time! Brittnie read to us from the book of Philippians found in the Bible. What are your favorite books to read? What makes these literary works so special to you?
